If we understand how the political aspects of the Star Wars saga came to be so divisive, we may be able to reduce that divisiveness and resolve this Star Wars conundrum.
While I'm well aware of Star Wars political tones (hell I even enjoyed some of it, like the senate scene in the Phantom Menace), I've always hated how the franchise is now another part of the culture war, but I guess it was a inevitability.
I think putting a "No Cross, No Crown" (No religion, No politics) policy would be a good start.
